Right now I have my spare bolted to the bedside, it's not the same size as the rest, but I figure it will get me off the road.

I am working on a Bronco type swing away tire. Just working on details.

one of the earlier posts linked to a company selling swing aways that replaced the existing tailgate. Would be a cool solution. Keep us posted!
