I live in NY and the rust here is rediculous. I am looking for a good OBS extended cab frame and possibly a cab . My truck is a 96. I have my own freight shipping setup. I just need someone knowledgeable on the ground to source me a good rust free frame. I am willing to pay someone in a friendlier climate to help me find one.
Please pm or email me if you are interested
Thanks ahead of time

That was a quick response!
I would really like to try and find a 96 or 97 so everything swaps over nice n greasy.
I would also take a rust free truck with a bad drivetrain....

I understand. Should be too much different between the two if you go bare frame to bare frame.

It made me chuckle because I just took the cab off it and was waiting for the buyer when I decided to see what was happening on oilburners...

Contact a member by the sign on name Towcat. I know he can "fix you up" because he often cuts up and crushes rust free rigs. He is in Ca mid state area.

I have a 96 crew cab with a good frame and a partial stripped cab....

FYI the only real difference inbetween these generations of trucks is the front bumper mount.
easily fixed with a good welder.

I too am curious about this....

About when did they change thickness?

I believe it was between '84 and '85. Can't prove it right now, not sure how to look it up yet.

for S&G's
I decided to go outside with a wire wheel on a drill, a tape measure, and a set of dial calipers.
I measured 4 different trucks.
right behind the rear cab mount, as this is where they all were pretty similar
all 4 frames were 37.5" from outside to outside of the frame rail

tyoe pf truck frame heighth and width frame thickness

85 F250 4wd SC LB 2.5 x 7" .225"
87 F350 4wd CC LB 2.5 x 7" .250"
96 F350 CC LB 2WD DRW 2.75 x 7" .250"
01 F350 4wd CC SB 3 x 7" .250"
