screen in the fuel tank?

i was watching a video on youtube and it says there a screen in the tank where the fuel is pumped from, i have no bed on the truck right now and i was going to pull it out and check to see if there is any crudd in it. is there any way of letting air into the sytem if i take it out and check it? thanks

You might get a little shot of air, but it won't hurt anything. Now is the time to do that while the bed is off.
