I just overhauled my C6 and I can manually shift it to first but when coming to a stop it doesn't shift its self to first, it seems to down shift to second, anything come to mind? I hope it is simple!

Go in a appropriate area, and give it a good long hard quick run in REVERSE.

Do it a couple times if necessary. This flushes out the governor and other parts inside the tranny.

Usually this trick works for a sticky governor.

It may not be the governer I have rebuilt so many at least over 400+ C-6 units in the last 20 years it. Was the valve body cleaned and torqued? Boost valve replaced? Low reverse seal installed correctly? Also need to check the blue spring and cut back spring in the valve body!
