Thats great. I can only get 15mpg out of my SRW truck w 3:55 gears

And my 460 will kill your IDI and get 12-13 mpg

for normal day-to-day commuting, shopping, whatever in a dense urban setting, CC duallies require constant attention when driving. I've gotten used to it, I have driven larger on a daily basis. I do like the added security of an extra wheel on each side when hauling a heavy load or towing a trailer. I've recovered enough trucks where a blowout turned into a major disaster. So, under my own rules of build it stout, practice for the worst case scenario, maintaining an exit strategy, and constantly sizing up who to kill first, a duallie fits right in for me;Sweet

My 89 F350 4x4 7.3 E4OD DRW with a big Reading toolbox body, big wide fire department mirrors, and 4.10 axles turns in a consistent average 15 mpg - a bit less in cold weather or pulling something behind it. I wish it did even better, and it might if I changed axle ratios or went to SRWs, but it's pretty remarkable for what is/ as-is.

The DRW really is not great in snow, though- 4WD becomes necessary more often than most of the other trucks I have owned
