Ford statt?
Real gauge??

Best guess...

Rad
Water pump
Block loaded with grease in cooling ports
Blockage
Timing

And at times normal...

Could also be collapsed lower rad hose if the inner spring was removed. A real handy tool to help diagnose the problem is one of those infrared laser pointed thermometers. Work the engine climbing a hill then pull off the road and start checking for dramatic temp differences.
