You haven't a clue what area it goes in? Is that the plug that plugs the wiring in on top of the engine over to the solenoid?

If that is the main engine harness plug the wires should be

engine temp - red/white : from temp sender to gauge

oil pressure - white/red : from oil sender to gauge

ignition - red/green : from ignition switch
note: this wire will have a 20ga. blue fusible link on the truck side, then turns back into red/green on the engine side plug (assuming someone hasn't removed it

glow plug relay - purple : from gp controller to gp relay

ground - black : from gp controller to ground

LH gp's - orange/white : from gp relay to gp's

RH gp's - orange/light green : from gp relay to gp's

overheat switch - red/black : from temp switch to warning indicator

The first pic appears to be the trailer wiring harness under the dash but this looks like its a pic from the engine compartment. Still think its trailer brakes connection.

Does your GP controller work or is it a push button? My bet is the burnt wires are something glow plug circuit related. That looks like a key on 12V source that has been tapped off of for something. Going to have to chase it and see where it goes but yeah... that seriously needs fixed.

I'm not sure what that connector is. The two big wires with ring terminals almost make me think thats the truck half of the engine harness???

Oh wow... you probably have a lot more problems than you even realize yet. Depending on what your sanity is worth to you and what level of "back to factory" you are looking for, you might well be ahead to just go find an entire underhood wire harness. Hopefully the cab and dash harness aren't cut up too bad but based on what you have shown thus far, I wouldn't bet on that.

I wish you luck. I hate cleaning up messes made by PO's that don't know what they are doing.

Search around. I think autozone has a bunch of wiring diagrams on their website. I think Oldbull88 has posted those before for different trucks. I keep forgeting you are an 85. There may be a lot of ugly going on under the hood depending on how they grafted the wire harness in to deal with the change from sealed beam lights and such. The 97 wire harness would be a bit different for sure.
