Could a bad oil temp sensor or sensor wire cause the idle to spike and drop at random?

I actually didn't know there was an oil temp gauge on our engines. A warning switch that will throw a code, yes, but not anything that will actually tell how hot the oil is, even to a sensor/scanner or AE. And I've always been under the impression that there was no such thing as a "high idle" for a powerstroke... that being cold will just activate the EBPV.

Not gauge, just a sensor.
So if the wires were bad and they were shorting it could mess with the rpm? I checked the codes (engine oil temp high)

I thought there was one.
And yes, they will idle up a bit.
I guess technically it's from the timing being advanced.

I used to have a deal showing the parameters for ebpv actuation, but who knows now.

Well I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is. I did the the resister mod on the EOT sensor. Guess I know what I'm doing in the morning!

Had to resolder the resister to the wire. Check engine light is gone.
