Edit: I tried to quote Gary's post about using the gasket as a template before my post.

That's what I did, but I didn't want to use a paper gasket as I trust ultra black more. I went to autozone and asked them to see a lift pump for my idi, took the gasket out and made a tracing of it to make my block off plate. I used some thin plate aluminum I had laying around, probably 1/8" and it hasn't leaked a drop.

I am using the same block off plate in your first picture and it works fine. The first install it leaked so bad I will never get the stain off the street in front of my house :rolleyes:and there was a trail behind me. I had to install the bolts loose then wiggle the plate slightly so it slid down next to the casting "lip" that it was riding up on. Then torqued it down and no leaks.

I did run a pump not hooked to anything for a few weeks while my plate was ordered.

I did however, take it off and cut the arm off... Wasn't pumping anything that way!

mine still had the arm on,
i had my engine apart anyways, so i decided to delete it.
