I'm not scared to turn a wrench and I did some engine work many years ago. I'm just wondering how hard it is for a newbie to do and injector replacement on 6.9's? The shop manual doesn't make it seem particularly hard to do.

it's not hard.
you just need to be very clean.
a blowgun and a shop vac goes a long ways to keeping crud from falling into the holes. blowgun before you start taking anything apart and the shop vac after you start tearing down.
vaseline is also a big help in getting on the new o-rings and line return caps. the stigma of having a jar in hand and walking up to the drugstore counter is the worst part;Sweet

Worst part on the IP is the lines and making sure your timing is semi close before you fire it up. After that it really needs to be timed with the right tools.
