Just curious what everyone else is getting for fuel mileage out of their idi. I have a 92 ext. cab long box dually 2wd with e4od stock 215/85/16 size tires and 4.10 gears was a N/A motor but has old non wastegated banks turbo system on it. 212,000 on the ticker now. In the last 12,000 miles of owning it and of it running well I'd get 13-15ish mpg unloaded and 10-12ish mpg loaded...I know new gears an tires would help but just wondered if this is normal. Truck seems to run great an makes decent boost and the only thing I haven't really replaced yet is the IP which I assume is stock.

Thanks everyone!

When I ran 500 miles across the I70 pass and back, I was getting around 15 with an unloaded trailer and about 12 with a 4500lbs vehicle on the trailer. I could get a better timing for fuel economy and i was boosting 11-12psi which I don't think it helps with milage because it superheats the compressed air.

Zf5, 1990 2wd crew cab with 4.10 gears. I get 17.5- 18.5 depending on what type of driving I'm doing. Have since I got it. I pretty much always drive it empty, but last winter I drove it with roughly two tons of gravel and still always got at least 17.5, though always towards the low end. I've been using opti-lube fuel additive the whole time in it as well.

Been getting 16mpg highway & 12mpg in town (empty) ever since I've owned mine. Should be a little better with the 3.08's but haven't checked since I've made the swap

I usually average 12-13 mpg, mixed highway and town driving (unloaded, I don't have loaded #'s since it's never loaded). Best I've gotten was 17 mpg on a 500-mile road trip to Sacramento and back. The E4OD, 4.10's, and lead foot aren't helping me much here.

I would love to know how you guys are getting 19-20mpg out of a 4.10 geared IDI.

Best I ever saw was 16mpg with brand new injectors from Russ, a fresh time using the machine, ZF5, and 32" tall tires. That was at 60mph and it was already singing. It was around 10mpg pulling the travel trailer.

The 12v does 21mpg all day every day @65mph with the ZF5 and 3.73s. It gets 16mpg pulling the camper through hill country. I've never pulled with it out on flatter ground.

I would say the typ4 cam and my twin scroll non watergate turbo with all new components. I was checking the first month driving and was getting 190-200 miles on my trip and fill it back up only took 10gals.

Current turbo vs old, burns every ounce I can throw at it

Fuelly is the best site to determine actual fuel mileage. I never got better than like 16mpg with my 1993 f350 crew cab long bed dually turbo. Lifetime average of 14.6. I drove it ever day fill both tanks every time all new injectors, turbo, up pies, intercooler, injeciton pump etc. That's the best I could manage.

Ok, scan them all in so we can see them, or you can go to a website and see all of mine and every one else's who uses it.
