those lines are cracks.
the whole damn lowerend is spiderwebbed!
overfueling wouldn't be the cause.
and the color tells me that I didn't overheat it too bad.
but daymn catastrophic failure.
I found the water leak, but didn't go any further,
@Clb was actually the one that found it.
now I wanna tear the rotating assembly out and dig a lill deeper.

Does this engine have a stud girdle that r&d sells? Perhaps something with the fasteners there?

I have R&D's lower stud kit and girdle.
I didn't use the impact on anything on this engine. all done by hand.
didn't have 1 issue either.
maybe it was cracked before I got it?

the water leak was coming from a crack as well, right inbetween 1&3 and 3&5

Did you use the lube on the studs?
I actually just seen talks about a guy using oil on main studs and cracking them.

I forgot the forum, but I asked about using the arp lube. Nobody answered me.
But from what they were saying, use nothing on them. Lol

whos they?
R&D says don't use it.
ARP says using it eliminates retorquing.

IMO if the fastener manufacturer specifies to use it, you use it.
don't believe everything you read on the internet? lol

Thanks AL gore. Lol
Can't say I disagree with that. At least a company like arp.
Now motorcraft, GM, etc is a different story.

Holy frijoles Batman! That is wild. For it to be that widespread, it's got to be a systematic error. Since the only thing different about your build is the stud girdle it just about has to be related to that. I don't know how it didn't scatter.

I wasn't nice to this thing either.
the girdle sat nice and flat on the mains.
there was no movement.
I don't think it was the issue, but I could be wrong?
