weighing my options on a IDI vs a PSD in my 96 F350 on a 01 chassis.

do you have a IDI on a 99+ chassis?
post your engine mount pics!

this type of work can easily be done, just curious whats been done before

no the 99-03 PSD engine mounts will not bolt to an IDI.

You must be registered for see images attach

thanks!
may do something to that effect.
all depends which way that project stumbles down the drunken road.

the kid is finally tired of doing 60 mph max,
told him to build this, and he can drive it on trips

slightly unrelated, but I'm curious. Are the frame rails the same dimensions (mostly curious about height) between the OBS and the 99+ frames? How tall are the rails in each?

both are 6" rails, and they are within a 1/8" from eachother in width.
the front cab mounts will work, with either slotting the front cab sheet metal, or cutting off the mounts and we welding them.
SD rear cab mounts are on the outside of the frame rail, where obs bodymounts on a cross member.
the core supports differ for a few inches, but not hard to redo.
I am really really thinking about slappuing this together with extra parts.
why not? a straight axled crew cab short bed could be fun if I want to get crazy.

I'll just throw a truck together out of these spare parts I have.....

Dude, you either have too many parts or too much time on your hands.

LOL

If all goes to plan I'll find out one of these days. I'd love to pick up a box trailer and take a trip out there and load it with clean metal to haul back.

I'd make the trip with ya, I'll just use a smaller box trailer!

I don't know if the economics would ever make it lucrative so you'd probably have to do it purely for the adventure of it. It sounds like fun though right?

VEGGIE! :sly

it would make for one hell of a thread on here that's for sure!

That's a lot of French fries Rob.

Maybe a west coast rally in 2018??

It's only 2800 miles one way. LOL

Would be quite the adventure.

Wow, we have quite the thread jacking going on here.

That's the one I linked above I think. You just can't tell because of all the tapatalk crap in the link.

He made motor mount adapters and used the sd crossmember. Only issue he had I think was lateral position. The engine ended up further back I think even after set it forward a bit with the mounts. That's what I sorta remember. This is probably the best documented thread out there. I have seen a couple tube videos of swaps but haven't searched for documentation.
