I'm sure this has been covered before ,but think I have a new twist on the subject. I purchased 1993 f250 4WD IDI turbo, 5 spd manual tranny. When I bought the truck the tach was not working, replaced the tach sensor and then I noticed that someone put a gasser cluster in it, everything worked fine except no tach. A couple of weeks ago I lucked into a cluster from a 1994 F250 IDI turbo with an E4OD. The 1994 cluster had 90K more miles so I switched the speedo and put in the truck. I forgot to check to make sure all the lights( high beam, batt light etc) were working before I put everything back together. Fired the beast up and I had a working tach !!! I was estatic. Then I saw the volt gauge was reading very low and thought that it may not be calibrated same as the other gasser meter. Well tonight I noticed the batts were not cranking the engine over like it should since the batts are 2 months old. Took the alt off and went to Autozone and it's fine. I did some reading eariler tonight that some year clusters are pinned different dues to changes and won't interchange. I was confident that putting a diesel cluster back that all would be fine.. What needs changed ??
