whats the difference ? what year did they change ?is the housing the same ? i have a 1993 and a 1996 rear ends both 10.25 4.11 gears are they long yolk or short ? im looking to install 3.55 gears ,any info would be helpful also if anyone has a good used set cheap ?also if anyone needs a set of 4.11 i have them

They changed to the long spline yolk in 93. There is 1/2" difference in the spline length of both the pinion and the yolk. The axle housing is the same.

ok then both of mine are long yolke . is it possible to install a long yolk on a short pinion

I converted my short pinion rear to a long pinion 7 months ago. The yokes will not work on the other length pinion. You've already got the long pinion rear end, I'd keep it that way. The short pinion setup is known to come loose and cause problems. When I took my old rear out, the pinion nut was just sitting there loose, and I could shake the yoke in all directions. parts are more plentiful for the long pinion rears as well.
