What would be wrong with wiring one fan to come ON two minutes after the ignition is turned ON, and the second fan be wired to come ON with the A/C compressor ??

A manual over-ride switch could be employed to turn either or both ON or OFF at will.

Would not this work ??

Thanks.;Sweet

Hi,
Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. I'll start looking for used fans tomorrow. My question is then: how does the probe install in the rad?

Hi,
In the case of diesel engines, and up in Ontario, where we may have some serious cold in winter, the fan may not need to come on for 15-20 minutes to allow it to reach operating temps... time is not a good rule to go by.

the probe is just held on by a nylon strap that goes threw the rad. and a small bracket that holds the actual probe up close to the rad. really easy to install and if you ever get rid of it all you have to do is cut the strap

Hi,
Just picked up an 05 Venture set of fans. Both have the same size motors and blades. I noticed others had one motor with the blades reversed... what gives? One blows and the other one sucks, I guess. Pun intended. I'm picking up a rad, thermocouple and controller from Autozone tomorrow in Buffalo. $305.99 for the rad, and either 24.99 or 34.99 for the kit, depending on which I choose to buy. One stupid question: you're supposed to blow the air forward, right?
Cheers!

no you are supposed to suck the air threw the rad. towards the motor otherwise you will have over heating problems

the time delay thing is not good IMO because if the fan dosent need to run why would you want it to..thats why you need a thermal switch that way if the fan dont need to be on it isnt

Hi dairieman,
Someone is selling a drivetrain from an 02 Dodge with the cummins, tranny, even dually rear end is included, I believe. It was a wreck, apparently. They are asking $4,000 Cad, which would be about $3,200 US. In your experience, how much is it worth? and how much more will I need to put into it to graft into my '94 IDI?
Thanks,
Dan

well since its a 02 then its the 24 valve which is computer controlled so if its in good running condition i.e. the vp isnt toasted due to lift pump failure and its not the "53" block and has all the computer for the motor it may be worth i am no specialist tho i do however know i only have @ $4500 for swapping in a 95 12 valve in my truck so it kinda depends on how extensive you get with it...i would ask around tho in what the motor would be worth

Personally, I would avoid any Cummins after mid-1998 = electronic/computer headache.
