Convert from Gas to Diesel

Hiw difficult is the conversion from gas to diesel?

I have found an awesome 81 F250, with a bad gas motor. I have an awesome 92 F250 Motor diesel 7.3, terrible body.

Want to do a little swapping..

Any advice on the possible pitfalls?

Since you have a complete donor truck your already half done. I know you'll have to use the diesel trans, motor mounts and radiator core support. It's doable and been done.

Check out the speedo on the 92. Hopefully it has a cable coming out of the transfer case. Was it 93 when they got rid of the speedo cable? Anyway, you are close so make sure you have a speedo cable or you will not be able to hook up the 81 speedo.

Also do not consider swapping fuel tanks unless you can keep the 81 fuel senders. The 81 fuel gauge works backwards compared to the 87-up fuel gauge.

Move the 81 body to the 92 frame and motor... Then you have the best of both trucks with very little work....

I vote for a body swap as well. Swap the dash from the 93 as well, along with the wiring under the dash. Then you can use that speedo that is run by wire since it's not a cable drive speedo in the 92'
