Probably been asked before but can't you just run a 90 degree section of say heater hose from the bottom hole to the top hole in place of the cdr valve? If its feasible it seems alot cheaper than buying a new one not to mention something to do while drinkin some cold ones.

CDR's sole purpose is to evacuate crank case pressure while trapping oil. if you loop it back to the engine, it wont do a damn thing except blow your valve cover gaskets out.
among other seals.

Disagree. It's main purpose is to prevent a plugged air filter from pulling a suction on the crankcase and running the engine on oil fumes. There's no oil drain out of it and nothing inside consistent with anything other than a big flapper valve. You do get a certain amount of oil condensation inside, but this is coincidental and not enough to make any difference.

Unless the old one is crushed or something just stick the bloody thing back on there.
