Can someone school me on transfer cases

Ah, you are correct. Each of the 2 shift rails on the NP205 control the front and rear outputs seperately. The NP203 can also be twin sticked, but each of its 2 shift rails are a bit different. One controls the range selection and the other controls 4x2/4x4. I must have been thinking of the 203 with the offset rear output from a NP200. Can't recall if the 205 has that ability. I know the 208 doesn't as the parts of the case not used for output shafts aren't cut (no cover plates like the 203).

Yeah I put a NP205 in my 89 thinking I would twin stick it. My thought was 2wd low would be awesome. After using the case for a while though I'm going to a 1356. The NP205 is tough shifting in snowy / icy weather where you need 4wd for getting in and out of parking lots, but don't really need it running down the road. Now if it was a offroad truck or farm truck that saw lots of mud I'd keep it, but not for what I do.
