Can a dirty air filter contribute to oil usage?

My truck plugs air filters quickly. Usually its just the outer foam wrap that gets plugged. So I completly removed the wrap.

Oil usage has gone way down now. Of course noise went way up.

I would think it could. As the more restriction the air filter has, the more it'll try to pull through the cdr.

The guy who owned the shop I used to work at told us to throw the foam away because all it does is make the engine use oil.

Its actully an intake muffler. I'd say he was right!
