blinker acting funny

ok on my '86 the blinker was going sllooowww so i figured it was a bad flasher relay. i went and got a new electronic one at Autozone and it worked fine for a while, now it's having fits. speeding up, slowing down, sometimes not blinking at all. where should i look first?

Are you sure you replaced the right blinker? There are two, one for the 4 ways and one for the turn signals.

Might be a light bulb problem Rob. I'd try changing out the bulbs.

Some of this electronic flashers with change the pace of blink (?) when a light bulb is burnt. My 97 does it.
