My brake fluid has been slowly needing refilled-mostly the front reservoir.
I syringed some out and its very dark black. Is this a problem?
Thanks

Yeah, tis a problem - you gots lots of moisture in that brake system, I recommend pulling the rear drums and inspecting the wheel cylinders for leaks (the cause for your slow fluid drain) and replace as necessary, then flush the whole system with clean brake fluid.

I always thought in addition to moisture and flushing it's a good idea to replace the rubber brake hoses. I just did this on an s10 and the hoses were defiantly getting soft.

Well water in the fluid don't necessarily mean the hoses are bad, but yah, tis a good idea to check them for cracks and stuff, and replace as necessary.
