just wondering what the best oil is to put in the t-19, in the scouts i run 85-140, yet i heard you could use 50 weight motor oil, or other synthetic gear oils.

thanks!

I personally don't like using synthetic oil in any transmission, I've recently become okay with running it in axles, but Im still sticking to standard oil in gear boxes. We used standard gear lube in the recommended weight for the T19 in grandpas truck, and it's still running strong at over 650k, the only thing that's getting worn is the shifter mechanism.

Persnally, due to the extreme cold I deal with, I run 75W90 synthetic in anything that calls for gear oil, and some things that don't... LOL

I run synthetic in everything, including my T19, I would think 85W140 would make them tough to shift, especially in the cold.

Synthetic in all gearboxes is my choice. Mainly because when we are camping I am at 16k with the camper and trailer on and loaded. Heat kills

I use 15W-40 Amsoil Diesel and Marine in my T18, seems fine so far and easy to shift but I don't deal with much cold weather here or extreme loads. From what I've seen of T18/19s it looks like you could run just about anything in there and be fine as long as its not extremely contaminated or run out of oil it should be fine. It's drivers who grind gears that hurt hard parts in these things, not much else probably.

GL-5 is what it calls for. I would use the 75W-90 synthetic. I could recommend an oil but I think you know what I will say. ;Sweet

T-19 oil

Haven't changed mine in my f-250 yet but am running synthetic in my 1980 diesel Terra with a W/R T-19 and immediately noticed a lot less noise and vibration from the gearshift lever. Eason

I was told engine motor oil so I'm running 15w40 Synthetic in mine, it seems fine, shifts good, no gear roll over noise, ect. If its not ment to be in there though, maybe I should change....

But thinking about it, the oil that came out with about the consistancy of 15w40 so I"m not to worried. Worst case scenario, a ZF will go in it ;Sweet
