Thanks, I think I'll just stick with a stock lift pump.

I don't run that type electric pump. I run what I know works. They are the Transcold Carrier pump thats found on the front of the refer sime trailers. Look at the next semi trailer with a cold trailer. See the white box way up front near the top of the trailer. Thats where the small diesel engine is that runs the refer. Now find the fuel tank.... Its way back under the trailer near the spare tire and snow chains. That pump can suck fuel from 11 feet down from the engine easily. Usually you wouldn't put a suction pump that low but they do and it works great. Genlighting sells them here cheap too. I found mine on ebay cheaper but I will be geting a spare.....:sly

Yeah I know about those and would love to have one but my stock lift pump took a dump and I need my truck going within the next day or two.

I have a pro-comp (generic holley red pump) on mine and it was noisy. I also have one of the aforementioned carrier pumps for when it goes bad.

To keep the noise down, I cut some 2 1/5" holes out of an old tire and sammiched them like this...Screw/metal washer/tire/frame/tire/2x4/tire/pump/tire/metal washer/screw. Keeps the pump from vibrating against the frame and knocked the noise down about 90%.

RUSS did you get my PM?

if you go with another stock lift pump someone here said to check the julian date on top of the box, the last two numbers are the year and the pump should not be more than a year old. people seem to ba having bad luck with carter lift pumps lately.

i am running a carter electric and i like it better than my holley blue and some other sold state pumps i used to run. i am thinking of going back to a stock lift pump though since i am still having fuel starvation issues.

i can scrape up the money i would like to try playing with putting a cummins style piston lift pump in. that should move my fuel mixes fine with no diaphram to rupture.

I woulda liked to had a carrier pump, But I needed the truck back up for tommorow. So I went with a napa brand pump. Got it on and fired up, Seems to be running real good. I just hope it holds up.

I am glad it got you going.

I would still try to get a more suitable pump in the meantime.

I got the mechanical pump, Not the electric one. Say's made in USA on it so maybe it's decent.

There's really nothing wrong with the stock lift pump. The time when an e pump makes life easier is when you run out of fuel or get a bad batch of fuel that you want to get rid of in a hurry. I have always found the factory mechanical pump to be very hard to change but I think I'm in the minority on that account.
