The reason why the picture is wrong is because I was turning the motor over, I couldn't get it to go any farther because of compression so I put it at 180 degrees out, but when I do turn it over the 180 degrees the to Y marks meet, and with the above picture with it lining up the y and the dot, it will all nice up when it is turned 180. I am just having trouble explaining it, I think its the problem.

I ripped the timing cover gasket, can I use just RTV or do I need another gasket, and I used only silicone on the pan.

If they are meeting at TDC on the compression stroke then you are fine. If they are meeting on the exhaust stroke then you are screwed. Pull the number one glow plug and rotate the engine. As the y marks come together you should be blowing hard out of the glowplug hole, ie. compression stroke. If you can hold your finger over the glowplug hole while doing it then the exhaust valve is open and you are wrong.
