Since I did my engine swap I need a v belt compressor. I was hoping I could swap the pulley on my compressor since I bought it new a couple of years ago and it seems to work well.

Does anyone know of a front pulley I could swap on or if the other older compressor I have would be sufficient. I know they made improvements over the years. The older compressor came on my 88 dt360 but I have no idea the history, it does seem to turn over smoothly.

Thanks.

I know, should be a 10 by quick glance. That's why I was asking.

I would prefer to run the compressor on the right that currently has a serp pulley on it. I need to convert to v belts for my dt360 engine though.

The compressor on the left has the v belts but I have no idea if it will work well with 134 and I don't know the history of it.

How can I tell what it is? Would more pictures or numbers help?

I wanted to do the same when I did the 12v swap since the v-belt is thinner than the serp and I was concerned about spacing. The compressor shop I went to said it wouldn't work. Something about the compressors are different enough that the v-belt pulley wont work. I ended up taking an old FS10 pulley and cutting the center out of it on the lathe. Turned and drilled a new center plate and welded it all up. It's bolted up to the front of the fan pulley. Now I can just buy all stock parts with no mixing and matching.

That's a good idea but I don't think I have the room for that lol maybe I could do some variation on that idea.

Use the belt comp, drain the oil and use oil for 134. Compressor doesn't care what it pumps.

Um, yeah, you're a bit real estate challenged there. :)

Is that pulley super rare? If not, just turn down the two outer grooves until you can press a hollowed out FS10 serp pulley onto it, then weld in place. I trimmed 2 grooves off my pulley since the IDI only used a 6-rib anyway. It works great.

If it's hard to get, I wouldn't mess it up.

Ha! Maybe I should just run an inverter and a window unit out the back. I can even be dazzle the sides so it does not look all red neck like!

That is an idea to turn down the water pump pulley to fit a serp belt.....

The belt compressor is very common in the aftermarket parts world. I would use it.
