I took pictures of the old 7.3 idi injectors. I’m hoping to get some information based on the appearance of these injectors. All input is appreciated. Thank you.
Those look like injectors…All input is appreciated.
Whew!’! I’m glad I got that right..Those look like injectors…
That’s a lot of oil… shouldn’t be that much… I’d warrant that your piston rings aren’t just super…Whew!’! I’m glad I got that right..
It’s been blowing out blue smoke on the beginning of fast takeoffs. It’s burning oil, a few quarts per 500 miles I’d guess. The truck has low 123k miles but no idea what happened to it during that time.
I'm guessing that this is the one in the close up. It looks like it might have unscrewed a little bit to me. There looks like there fuel between the two parts of the injector body. Other than that, nothing looks completely awful to me. I don't know what causes the rust, but I've seen it before.I was a little worried about the wet/crusty/rusty colored looking one from the back drivers side cylinder?
I got a new set from Russ last year and they turned to rust within a month or so. It's really a bummer to look at them. They work fine but they look like hell.I don't know what causes the rust, but I've seen it before.
Yeah, that’s concerning. If I keep the engine well oiled will it likely be ok for a year or more until I can swap it out. That’s a lot of oil… shouldn’t be that much… I’d warrant that your piston rings aren’t just super…
Doesnt everything in Maine rust into dust?I got a new set from Russ last year and they turned to rust within a month or so. It's really a bummer to look at them. They work fine but they look like hell.
Yes I used the the seezy on the threads. I was referring to one that has it on the lower part of the injector. It’s a closeup pic.UUUMMMM those look really good. the rust is from moisture coming from the top.
Did you never seez the new ones upon install?
I recommend Painting them, they wont rust on top.
