Specs on the truck? 14mpg is damn good out of a 460! Is that highway or mixed?

x2!!

I barely see a little better than that in my 7.3idi regular cab 4x4 with 5 speed and stock as can be which 16 is about average for most.

So being close to that with the 460 and a crewcab and big ass tires is damn good imo!

First ever 460 Ive heard of getting mid teens unloaded, most are lucky to break into the double digits (the OBS 460 the local race club has for ES is lucky to break 5mpg towing)

My truck was converted to single 38 gal rear tank by previous owner , who also put on the 36 x 12.5 tires .... will be glad to get back to stock size rims and tires , the bigger tires play heck on steering dampers !!! been trying to find someone wanting to go to bigger wheels by way of swap !!!

So what transmission and gears are in that truck? And what's your crusing speed to get that kind of mileage?

So, turns out the truck I was gonna buy was already sold by the time I got the cash on hand, but I plan on keeping my search up and running! Also that is really good gas mileage even for my 94 f150 2wd 5.0 SWB although that probably still has factory everything under the hood. Even plugs.

I really wanted a 1993 Gasser, but after a long hard think, I have decided I should hold off on buying a truck, mainly because I'd be broke after doing it, but also because I just bought a car this month and have to save up again. But that is such a beauty.

89 F350 Reg Cab 4x4 460/zf5/4.10 Gets maybe 11 or so in urban traffic, maybe 12 cruising empty at 60-65mph. Mine likes premium. Same per gallon price as diesel, around here. Have not towed in years with this truck; seem to remember getting 7 to 8 towing an enclosed two-axle 6'x12' trailer weighing around 6000 lbs. But that was in the rockies.

02 F350 Reg Cab 4x4 V10/zf6/4.30 Gets 12.5 or so in urban freeway traffic, nearly 14 highway cruising empty. Best tank was a little over 15 running empty from Tehachapi to San Bernadino.

07 GMC K2500hd classic Duramax/allison/3.73 17 to 18 urban freeway traffic. 14 running empty at mostly 80-85 from Dallas to El Peso. El Peso to Dallas, back up to 17, running 80-85. Nearly 20 cruising empty at 60-65. You would need some serious tonnage or sail area on a trailer to even notice it, with this beast.

Friends of ours have a leter E350 460 w/ OD and FI . I got 10mpg empty , and 10mpg towing 2 horses. As comparison a similar vintage Bronco w/ 302 towing a two horse trl round trip ( one direction just trl , return w/ one horse on board ) did 3.4mpg .turned out having it done for "free" with me paying gas ran as much as if hiring a pro hauler.
