89 7.3 spitting fuel out

My buddy just bought a cheep beater and the thing runs great but it started pressurizing and shooting fuel out the fill cap.like a lot of fuel he said the had a trail following them and it shut off and died.i had um pour water on the up and it fired right up.could the up be causing a pressure build up or somethin else

Well I would bet its pulling fuel from one tank, and returning to the other.

Ya I think it’s the tank selector there gonna bypass it and see cause it drained his whole front tank which he hadn’t filled up long before it happend

I’m not around it If I was I coulda figured it out but I wasn’t so I was askin on here so I could give them some ideas on where to look. Been awhile since I’ve messed with one since mines down
