i thought the POR15 was decent until a couple years latter.you really can't beat sandblasting,primer & paint.
just figured id toss in my 2 pennies worth out there for ya.
i put it under my truck.....i mean it's ok.but i can tell it wont last.didn't last on my chipper either.i sandblasted it all off and then primed + raptor bed liner.......she's good for many, many years now.
you've gotta put the elbow grease to it if you want it to last.

that said,i don't think you've got too much concern with metal prep out there in California.you could leave it as is and it will outlast 4 or 5 vehicles here.:D

for now! lol

i think im going to send the truck off to get the bottom line-x'd
i am really really fighting my inner demons with the prep and paint with the bottom of this truck.
my back is still not 100% and i really really do not want to get underneath it to do the cleaning and paint.

i can handle the jambs and the rest of it. but the bottom is really holding me up from finishing.
i hate farming my work out, but thats a large piece of the puzzle done!

this might be a good idea.you really don't want to regret it latter.with a build like this,i take it you'll probably be keeping it for a great many years to come right?
did you see how i did my chipper?

^ that's the proper way man.you gotta remove the rust.nothing stops it.im no longer a believer in another method besides sandblasting first.

The worst part under my truck is the grease at all of the U joints.
Zero rust underneath.
Yes sand blasting priming and painting is the absolute best, but I'm not pulling the cab.
I will keep this truck for a long time, but the POR15 I've used lasts a long time out here.
For me, it's the best bang for the buck.
I talked to the line x guys and they said 9-1100 if I bring it in on a rotisserie,
"If I had a rotisserie, I wouldn't be calling you!"

So POR 15 it is.

Simple easy and will last a while.
If it lasts 10 years, I'm good with that.
And with the frame on my HOTROD done 6 years ago, I think it will last just peachy

So today, I put the pieces of the OBS dash in, got it sorta mocked up.
Wanted to do a cleaner job than I did last time.
I gotta box the lower A pillar, because that's where the cowl vent is.
Then add the mounts for the column support.

Your doing a custom wiring harness right? Wiring would be the biggest thing keeping me from doing the same swap. I like the brick nose dash, but the OBS dash is newer looking for sure.

Looking good!

Line x is damned expensive. I'm not sold on it either. If they don't do the prep right it will just hold crap until it rots out under it. Same thing with Powdercoat. I checked on getting my bumpers and running boards done. It was like 1400 bucks I got quoted. That was blasted and coated. yeah I bought 250 bucks of bedliner and did it myself.

Look into raptor liner. Stuff works GREAT.. holds up very well and can be done at home. Ive got a buddy that did his jeep tub a few years ago and still looks like the day he did it. Cleans up easy and holds up to abuse. You can get the kit on Amazon with the gun to spray it.. its also tintable if you dont want black.

That don't look bad. As easy as it is to do, I'd yank the back glass and make sure there is no rust hiding in the corners. While you are this far might as well.

got the inside of the firewall stripped,
the pinch weld was trimed and welded up, so i had to fill in some pin holes and re-seamsealed the cowl section
and the inside firewall to floor weld line.
gonna paint it tomorrow with this stuff.
