I have a 2000 Ford 550 wrecker (7.3). I need to change the oil pump in the oil pan. Can I just drop the oil pan to get the clearance or do I have to loosen the motor mounts and jack the motor up to get the clearance?

Thanks,
David

Here's some pics of the front cover where it sits and the oil pump so you know what you are looking for. Took these when I did mine. Oil pump isn't a bad job on these. Timing cover is a different story, if you need to replace it like I did you have to pull the engine.

Only special tool you need is a harmonic balancer puller..I used a $10 Harbor Freight Cheapo but you can get free rentals at Autozone etc too
