One of my co-workers, who lives in Paradise, picked it up today and he'll hand it off to another guy who's coming up to Reno this week. How much does one of these weigh? The seller thinks it's about 400lbs? It only took the two of them to throw it in his truck so I'm figuring it's a bit less. Plus it can't weigh that much more than the 3 speed (about 160lbs?).

The seller has deleted the ad from Craigslist so your link is no good. What did you buy- a Spicer 6041 or 7041?

According to my notes the 6041 weighs 250 lbs. If it's a straight 6041 the gear ratios are 2.14:1 UD, 1.24:1 UD, 1:1 DD and .86:1 OD. If it's a 6041A the UD and DD ratios are the same but OD is .75:1.

I think you did alright. I'm hoping to install my 5831D in a few weeks here, but I guess we'll have to see how other factors go. It'll give you a lot of gear choices that's for sure.

So here it is. I placed a quarter on one of the gears to show their size.
Robert, what am I going to need for U-joints for this?

From what I've read (mines not installed yet), you can shift on the fly if you're good at floating the gears. It's non syncro, so always a chance of a little grinding. And it will take 2 driveshafts. I don't think it would be very easy to direct mount it to the trans output and get it perfectly centered.
