Hey guys, just wondering if i can get a 1 wire 3g alt from a 93-94 and jsut take my V belt pulley and put it on that one, and it will all bolt up just the same?

Thanks. Want to eliminate as much wiring and get some more amps where I can.

I got my 3G from a 3.8L 90's Taurus, swapped the pulleys easily, you will need to grind some of the ribs on the front case down a bit. Easy though.

You can grind the front of the case, or put a thin washer behind the pulley, either way works. I did the washer on my 460 truck with no issues.

I've got the washer behind the pulley on mine, and it lines up nicely.

And this was the best investment I have ever seen in a vehicle. I've always used a Delco 10SI on tractors when converting from a generator or external regulator, but I think this may be the route I will take from now on. I should have done this when the alternator took a dump on my 79 Bronco earlier this year, but will probably do it when I repower that Bronco when I finally 86 that 351M for something worthwhile. It's just as easy to do as a Delco rewire, and has so far been much more dependable than a couple of tractors I've done since.

I have a 105 amp 10SI on my boat, easy install. Seems to work great compared to the original 50 amp unit it replaced. I know they're older tech but is there a big advantage to 3g other than higher capacity up to 160-200 amps? 10SI is much cheaper.

I got my 3G from DB electric. Ordered it for a Taurus. I don't remember what the factory alternator is rated, but I know the taurus is a nice upgrade for the money.

I've got 3 2G alternators if anyone needs one. Ones a brand new rebuild!

The serp belt alternators mount different. Don't get one for a serp mount 92- up truck. I bought one from uhaul on ebay that was actually for a tall deck 427 motor. Its a 3G with the v belt pully on it. Looks identical mount wise to the 1 g on my engine. For what it's worth.

Order one for a 95 E150 4.9 with AC. It will have the right hole spacing 8.25" and the right clocking witch puts the connections towards the passenger side.
