6.9 vs 7.2 v-belts

Anyone know the difference between the V Belt setups on the 6.9 vs the 7.2? I ask because a friend has a 6.9 he’s putting back together with some missing bits and he’s wondering the the 7.2 v belt setup can be used Mostly because he can get it cheap.

I figured he had a prototype engine where they were still seeing how much bigger they could make the hole.
