They didn't originally, but it's recommended anything that took Dexron be upgraded to the Dexron 6 synthetic blend correct? And I have heard and found it to be true, the cheapest place to get Dexron 6 is Walmart in the blue off-brand quart containers.

can you get the 50W syn at any HD truck shop?

You should be able to . 50 wt synthetic ATF is standard fill for all the big Spicer boxes these days. 30wt synthetic atf for cold climate. They no longer call for motor oil or mineral oil in any of their boxes, so most all the big trucks rolling down the road basically run the stuff ( or are supposed to )
