Chipped precups

Purchasing a spare 6.9?
So I recently came across a 6.9 in someones garage that had been torn down and re-honed from sitting after HG leak. All of the engine is there, but in pieces. body lift for turbo install?
I'm thinking of just doing a 1" puck lift for my turbo install and ease of future mods, instead of cramming it in and trimming the sound shield. What do you guys think, and is 1" enough?- bullfisher
