    Thanks, its a late 85' block. The nozzles are bolt on, I've been looking for one actually due to one of them being broken. Anyone know where to purchase piston cooling nozzles? Also been looking for precups, 2 of them are chipped, but I think those are extinct.

    The block is a late 85'. Im on the fence about boring and sleeving, I like the thought of more steel around the pistons. But forged rods? Hmmm.... who makes them?

    Yep, I found the info I needed. The rockers and the cam they ride on is a much better design and gets rid of the old 6.9 aluminum bridges. Maybe the pushrods also but they are getting replaced anyway and I dont think you can buy the old ones any more. Thanks guys. If you can think of anything...

    Yeah sorry, let me rephrase. I know the 7.3 has some stronger internals over the 6.9, I just cant find what they were in the search bar. I believe Gary explained it once, but that was before I had a complete 6.9 sitting in my shop so it went over my head.

    The pic on the left is a 2000 psd. Justins setup from r&d on the right. Other than the goofy EM on justin's setup, I really dont think you could cram a simpler, better setup in our trucks.

    R&D has 3/8" exhaust flanges on his website for 40$. They're not stainless but what the heck. Also, his turbo pedestal and inlet is about as good as it gets. That is if you can shoehorn some pipe back there.

    You know your truck better than anybody, but it sounds good to me. If its clicking under a load I'd start with huntin down a leaky injector.

    Its a banks kit with an older rebuilt to4b non WG turbo, a 150$ cx racing intercooler from ebay and my fabed intake hat, nothin fancy. Banks will sell you pieces of there kit for a reasonable price. I basically bought there entire sidewinder kit minus their turbo and muffler for about 800$

    Grey, ceriated tungsten. I welded a collar on the inside so I could double gasket it. So it has a 5"id. and a 5"od. O ring and it doesn't seep a drop of oil at 9lbs of boost. I can definitely glue some aluminum together, I just cant stack dimes or anything so a grinder and some paint are always...

    I say make your own hat. Here is an intake hat I fabed to accommodate my intercooler. Its made from 5"dia. aluminum pipe. I suck at welding aluminum, but it turned out great and works awesome.

    R&D IDI performance they still around?

    Doing business with Justin is extremely difficult. He Is a super guy, just has too many irons in the fire I guess. I finally gave up trying to receive anything from R&D, and I only live 30min away from him.

    body lift for turbo install?

    I went ahead and did my turbo install without the lift, and it worked ok with a little prybar convincing to the firewall. I can see however, that a bodylift woud greatly improve the process. Especially if someone had rotten body mounts.

    Disconnect the turbo oil feed line and put the end in a container. Have someone crank it over until oil comes out and reconnect. I was able to do it by myself using an empty clear water bottle but its a little difficult.

    8 new 7.3 cups are fine by me as long as all my cups are the same, I just can't find them anywhere.

    Well I see two of them are chipped. And apparently precups are extinct from the planet! I did find an obscure set on ebay but the seller does not specify their application. If they are different from mine I will have to buy a whole set. Bummer!

    :rotflmao yeah... its worth a fortune now! Has anyone ever played with the precups to get them more durable (ceramic coated), or altered the openings? I mean are they at there optimal design? If im going to replace them I might be just ballzy enough to try something different.

    Well after a few days the guy called me up and said it was in his way and I could have everything he had for it for 350$..... SOLD! Its a complete motor just in pieces. Has some coolant crust under the freshly rebuilt heads on two cylinders. Looks like he had the motor rebuilt then blew a HG...

    Purchasing a spare 6.9?

    Is there anything on the block that I should be looking for that could identify the year, and are there years I should avoid? I told him id get back to him on the motor. I did however manage to score these.
