Who here runs a fuel additive?

I use optilube as it is made here locally. Seems to work well as my injection pump and injectors are noisy without it.

    Vibration on braking

Ok just to recap what I have done to the front end as this work was performed to have a reliable truck, not to fix a vibration issue. All work was performed 2000 miles ago when I got the truck. Replaced steering gear box, inner and outer tie rod ends, kingpins, track bar bushings, wheel...

    Vibration on braking

I check runout on the car only. If they needed to be turned I have a buddy with an on car lathe. I have never measured runout with the rotors off a car and will not turn rotors unless on the car. If I find runout issues I replace the rotors then measure new ones. If there is runout on the new...

    Vibration on braking

Shocks are brand new less than 2000 miles on them as well as steering stabilizer shock. Ideas for where to get slipper pads? I will be tearing into this soon and want to get it all together. Do it right or not at all. It's funny the truck does not look like much but I have put hours and hours...

    Vibration on braking

I swapped tires, no change. I will be pulling springs out to do spring bushings front and rear. I am trying to find someone with a go pro so I can video the front end to see what's going on. As far as the spring bushings, and I am replacing shackles as well, does anyone have a preference for...

    Vibration on braking

I have never removed the front springs only the differential. Wouldn't the alignment specs show the caster angle as well because it all came in normally. The steering gear is smooth, I just checked after popping off drag link. Put on the lift and both wheels turn not connected to steering gear...

    Vibration on braking

Not sure what death wobble is, but it's like the front end or something in it shakes the floor, dash and column. So if that is what death wobble is, then yes. All u joints were replaced on the front driveshaft, rear driveshaft and front axle shafts. driveshafts balanced at the local 4x4 shop. I...

    Vibration on braking

What's strange is that right after replacement of rotors and pads on my test drive the vibration was exactly the same, nothing changed. I checked runout before I took it out on test drive as I had read that after replacement of rotors it should be checked and if found out of spec to turn rotors...

    Vibration on braking

The only parts that I changed to help the vibration were the rotors. I did everything else because when I first bought the truck it was beat and the front end was hammered. I have been a German auto technician for 20 years and have little experience with domestic trucks. I am of the school that...

    Vibration on braking

The rotors are brand new and replaced because I originally thought the vibration was coming from the rotors. They were checked for runout and found to be good.

    Vibration on braking

I did check runout once the discs were back on, and the truck was aligned after all the work was done. The weird thing is that this slowly developed and then got worse and worse. Now that I would like to drive the truck as a daily driver I would like to get it fixed.

    Vibration on braking

I did not replace the spring bushings, but did replace the track bar bushings with energy suspension bushings. Should I have replaced the whole track bar? As far as spring bushings, is that a common issue and are the energy suspension polyurethane worth doing? When I removed the differential I...

    Vibration on braking

This 89 F350 SRW has had the brakes, rotors, drums, replaced front and rear. When i first got the truck i pulled the front diff out to have the inner shaft seals replaced as well as a front axle shaft as it was worn out. At the same time i also replaced the kingpins both sides. Since I was doing...

89 F350 Non Tilt Steering Column Questions

I have a couple of questions regarding the steering column in my truck. This is in a F350 Crew Cab Lariat. The column that is in it is non-tilt. Not sure if that is stock or not. My questions are these. First, there is looseness in the column, not real bad but it is there. Is this repairable? My...

    Frustrated but still trying........

I love my truck. Let me start by saying that. I purchased this thing a year ago and have put all kinds of work into it. I wouldn't have been able to get even this far without Gary, Russ, and Mel and everyone else always helping out, (the rest of you know who are)! Today pushed me over the edge a...

Where's a good place to get a pyrometer?

I have read here in the forum about people placing them between cylinders six and eight. I do want the most accurate reading, so I think I will do here. I can remove the downpipe and shove a shop vac in the end of the manifold while drilling and tapping. Does anyone have a photo of this setup...

Where's a good place to get a pyrometer?

I've searched through the forum and people like isspro and a couple others, but where is a good place to buy one? My truck is turboed with an Ats 088 and I found the left overs of a pyrometer under the hood. It was hooked into the hot side of the turbo housing but was replaced with a plug. I...

I use redline d4 atf instead of dexron, does it make a difference? Do I need to mix fuel in or fill all the way with atf? Thanks for all of the information.

New. Any one use this wix fuel water sep

I myself purchased the 33617 filter today and have been reading quite a bit as to people filling them with atf or stanadyne diesel kleen. It's there a particular reason to fill with cleaner or atf and what purpose does this accomplish. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can.
