I wonder if it's a 1980. I don't really care, I just think it's awesome. I love it. I'll also probably never see it again either. Some kid will probably tear it up since it's 4X4.

My dad had a 81 that had a 3.8 V6. It had more than 600K miles on the body and it went through 3 engines to get there. It was regular cab short bed baby blue and it had really unique decals. It was like 4 stripes each about 3/4in wide with "explorer" worked into it towards the rear. Ford did some neat stuff to emphasize those bull nose body lines in the first couple years. I like the badging or 80/81 better than the later bull nose.

I had an 85 explorer long bed 302 with AOD years ago. It was white with 4 different sizes of baby blue stripes down the side. They didn't look anything like those though.

That truck is the primary reason I don't really sell vehicles anymore. I tried to buy it back for several years, I lost track of it about 15 years ago. I'm sure it has been scrapped by now.

This photo makes me think of, “my fair lane up on blocks, the holes in all our socks”

Having the tires match balanced and road forced if need be.

Greased the steering and gonna do an oil change, then pack up for our Black Hills trip.

I see 16x10 steel wheels are a bit of a rare item, this cragar was all there was with a rating better than the tries.

I like the bart wheels better with the round holes, they only have 15 and 16.5 ones now. Tires that came with them are getting over 8 years old and I have not got to wear them out. So would be wise to have a spare when running these and have that one as a new tire, these tires aint cheap. The old grabber AT2 is load D and the current ATX is load E, that is better but should not mix them with the old. There is a cheaper ironman but is not for snow, and there's also a milestar but has soft outer lugs that wear fast. The grabers ride good and are for snow, so sticking with them.

I tried running those for a few years. The price is great, but I'll bet that I never got 15,000 miles out of a tire. DO NOT buy those. And they are terrible in the snow. I had to put my truck in 4X4 in a couple of inches of snow in the flat part of my yard around my garage.

I'm a stickler for hitting up the junkyard for tires. I got an almost new pair of Firestone's on the front of the dually for $20 a piece. It's rare to find 33s or 35s, but I can usually find nice pairs of 16" LT road tires. A/Ts sometimes.

3 summers back I was at the Sparks PNP. In the area where vehicles are stored waiting to be cleared by DMV etc... and then made ready to be placed in line for the pickers.
I saw this pretty clean Ford Van, which had the grey steel rims.
Asked the manager if I could get those rims? ...Come back Monday.

Showed up early monday, and he had the guys Fork lift it up front to pull the wheels. Tell ya what, I`ll buy the tires, Hub Caps and tires. Figured rollers, and Caps are difficult to find anywhere.
Out the door around $350 as i remember, Tires had some life to them, so threw 2 on the front and ran them till last week, were down to the wear bars. And threw on the other 2 tires.
Cooper Discover LT 245/75 R16 M+S A/t3.

I have the Cooper Discover LT 235/85 R16 on the rears, but new tires.

Last Fall in the Carson City PNP saw 3 tires on the rack, and even had the little rubber nubbies new tires have. Guess one tire got damaged in the wreck.
Had my Wheel barrow full and was heading out to pay and unload in the 250. Then come back for more goodies.
Threw on one of the tires.

Coming back out with another load, threw on the other 2 tires.
Think they were $23 ea.
LT 245/75 R16 120/1165 10PR
Dexte7s0? (not sure on last 3 ) All Terrain DAT1

Usually if they have a set of four tires, they jack the price threw the roof.
