What gearing do you have? I have an E40D and 4:10 in the rear, I also live in a very hilly area and get 15mpg pretty much all the time. :puke:

I still have the factory G codes so that prob doesn't help, they may be a bit gunked up too.

I may try pushing my tire PSI up and see if that helps, 65 in front 70 in rear right now

I have heard of ppl getting 18-22 so it seems like I should get better..

Lightly loaded with my zf-5 and 410 I get 15-16 if I pull the 55mph prius blocker action on the highway. I know my fuel system is tired. You take some lumps when you buy a $800 truck.

I am waiting until spring(I hope) to do batteries and all the fuel system, injectors, lines, IP and liftpump, seals. I want to put in a big marine racor. I just did the fuel tank switch valve. It is now a fancy gray color but otherwise the same, not black like came off it. Makes me not feel so bad about it costing almost $300 from ford.

I will scrounge the boneyards for some 355s and a turbo. I want to see 20mpg.

I just replaced the front springs from General Springs. Energy suspension Poly all around. I fished most of the "showerheads" out of the tanks. I did a SMF swap from Ft. Wayne clutch with kevlar input bushing. The dual mass was completely worn out and rear engine cover was leaking at the driver side, contaminating the clutch, making it jerk when starting out. Installed a new teflon main seal while I was down there.

In my '94 IDIT 4x4 I'm only getting around 14 on the highway empty and 10-12 towing. Of course I rarely run under 75 mph on the highway but I still think it should do better than that. I have a new IP and remaned G code injectors. When I bought them I didn't know any better so I'm getting ready to buy some new BB codes. I'm still waiting on a meter to properly set my timing. Hopefully those two things will help. Probably need to up my tire pressure a little too, I'm running Toyo LT285-75-16'S.

I have done lots of different stuff to my crewcab to help with fuel economy, all added up together maybe 1mpg. Anywhere from 14-17 is pretty normal for these trucks.

I would be very happy to get 14mpg at 75 or better.

I don't have a clue what my MPG is. Would like to know tho. If I had to guess I would say lower 14 area. No idea what i should get with this '86 6.9L and side mount turbo. Doesn't smoke, and the exhaust is firm through all cylinders. No idea on injector coding, no idea how to check either.:dunno

if I drive 65mph on the highway I get ~17mpg.

That's with a ZF5 and 4.10's and a turbo with POS IP.

Injector...

considering this is where it was first posted for me, I will post here, but also in my own thread. I went out and looked in vein for an injector code. What I did find was a part number and I looked it up, and here is what I found. :

injector stanadyne 781535 :

injector part number = (navistar)780430
injector inscription code = C or D
customer part number = 1813345C91
holder part number = 781535
nozzle part number = 770536
nozzle inscription code = SDN 0MD 770536
application = 1984-87 6.9L, 1988-92 7.3L

LOL, I guess you're right! 99% of my driving is done in a 2010 Crown Vic with blue lights on it so I guess I'm in the habit of driving everything else like I drive it! At least my trucks does get better MPG than my cruiser. It only averages 7-10 MPG! Glad I'm not paying for the gas in it!LOL
