I've been getting the F250 ready to bolt the turbo on, and I'm in the process of getting the gauges installed. I picked up a boost gauge (0-15 psi), a pyro (0-1500*), and a transmission oil temp. gauge (100-280*). The gauges are ISSPRO.

My question is about the temperature sender for the transmission temp gauge. I've got a ZF and I'm a little apprehensive about drilling into my case (although I do realize it needs to be done). My plan is to drain the tranny and carefully drill the correct size hole in the case. I've got a tap that I can use for cutting the threads. I'm hoping I'm able to catch all of the shavings. ;Really

Any tips or pointers from someone who may have done this?

what i would do is drain the oil then take off one of the little side plates. i would drill a hole in that and weld a bung with the 1/8th NPT onto that.

1 you dont have to do any drilling near your tranny

2 if you eff up you just get a new side cover piece.

Made by Fabcraft they are 70.00 or 125.00 for two. If you run two of them you do a cooler set-up + temp gauge. As soon as they send me the info I will post it up for you all to see.

Why not put it in the drain plug? I realize that the threads arent right but mcmaster carr or some place migh have some bushing to make it work. I dont think its worth the risk of drilling into the case.
