So I've started looking for a crew cab IDI to drop all my goodies in. I was wondering the following:

1. Were IDI's available in crew cab (4 door)?
2. Were they available with 8ft beds? or just short beds?

yes and yes

as far as i know there was never a short bed IDI unless it was custom made. there were 2wd and 4x4 crew cabs SRW and DRW.

I'm thinking about the fact that I will have to have the drive shaft for my rear axle lengthened and the whole GV mess. Before too long my kids won't be too comfy without booster seats on the rear bench.

took me about 6 months to find mine, extended cabs are much more common but thats not what i wanted. need to fit the baby seat and dogs. i am glad i waited, its a big truck with the long bed but i use it.

And yes they did make IDI CC short bed trucks, because my parents looked into buying one NEW back in 1992. They are out there, just kinda rare.

BTW, why are you stripping your truck?

Duallies were 8' beds and not factory 4WD until the stupid duty in '99.

The crew is nice, turning radius is something like 10 miles. Truck it self is just under 22' long. Since mine has hips, drive thru banking never happens unless they have a end aisle with no island on the one side. Rear windows were not power in the IDI years. 95 (?) started the rear power windows. As a 2WD dual, she rides much nicer with weight in the rear!

Powered units out of a 95-97 truck, and the door panels to go with them.

Any ideas where I might look for one? There was a 95' on cl for 1500 with a blown cummins here in denver then I realized 95 was a psd - and given the transplant it was probably more than I wanted to tackle.

I can just squeek through the drive through banking in mine with a can of axle grease and a shoehorn , but I have a Western Hauler bed on mine, the fenders don't stick out as far as the factory fiberglass ;Sweet What I can't figure is why they couldn't make the thing turn tighter. I had a stretch frame '72 Kenworth with centerpoint steering ( read that NO power steering ) that turned tighter than this turkey cookoo
