These are the times that try men's souls, no room for a sunny day soldier when cupholders are in the discussion! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps, wipe off the horsecrap, and just set your beverage safely where it belongs @XOLATEM !

So since this thread is already a mess, @Nero do you have any clue if a Cat C10 uses an SAE size bellhousing and if so what size? Long story short I have a line on a truck with a blown C10 and a good 10 speed transmission that I may like to put an older cab on.

It's completely relevant because the truck has cupholders and if I cab swap it the new cab will too :joker:

Being as it's an industrial engine, I'd say probably, but I also don't work on cats, just Cummins and good ol' idi's

I couldn't find answers on Google. I was being optimistic and thinking an IDI with an SAE bellhousing could be transplanted fairly easily....

I found an idi on face book marketplace earlier that had an sae bell on it, shame I don't need it. Odd it came up when I searched "Ford dually"

I believe IDI is SAE 3 and the 10 speeds behind the bigger cats are the FR/FRO series trans which are SAE 1 and SAE 2. Maybe there is a smaller 10 speed you are looking at? Not an area of my expertise but the model number would solve it definitely.

My understanding is that IDI’s are SAE 2, but it’s possible that I am wrong and they are really SAE 3 like you say. Cats and Cummins are either SAE 1 or 2, I believe they have the bolt holes for both. I just put a clutch and input shaft in one of our concrete trucks, it had a Cummins M11 with SAE 1, but had some other threaded holes which we’re just covered by the Bell housing. We have a few trucks that have caterpillars in them. They use the same transmission.

I think read some where that the idi and mv-404/446, have the same bolt circle for the flywheel housing. What about the sae pattern of MV gas engines from IH?

You are searching the wrong term, try flywheel housing and see what you get.
