Well it looks like everything is in order to begin my D60 swap.

Let me say for the record that on a tow vehicle I would seriously prefer to keep the TTB D50. But, there are issues I do not have time to address and the truck has to be reliable so my wife can haul loads while I am not home. When I get home for good, I have a build planned that will re-use the D50 I am removing. I will get on that later though.

This is the list of stuff I have already bought or will buy. I have included photographs of the donor truck I bout and the hubs I have for the DRW conversion for the 60. I must say I am really looking forward to this. I miss wrenching on my trucks. I have not gotten to the brakes yet because I am dropping enough money on everything else. I will look into better than stock breaks when I get home for good. I did swap in a Hydroboost system so that should make some different now.

Those spindle nuts are quite nice, not sure what the issue is with stock ones though?

Good, modern single shocks are just as good as duals. Shock technology has made multiple shocks more of a looks thing than functional. It's a great way shock manufacturers sell more shocks though.

If you use the SKY reversal and weld the front crossmember in you do not need the panhard rod, but it doesn't hurt anything.

CTM joints are made for low speed, high load situations. If you locked in the hubs and hit the road in a snow storm you'll be replacing them in 50 miles. Lifetime sealed spicers are the best you can run on the street.

I have had second thoughts the CMT jount since I read up on them. With this truck, I agree I do not think they will be neccassary. I have also changed my mind about the ORU shock hoop. I do still want to run duals, but I am going with something that costs less. ORU is way too proud of thier stuff.

It looks to me like you've got a nice tow rig pickup there with less than aggressive tires. I do a lot of heavy towing with my trucks, most with 35" mud terrain type tires and healthy big block or 500+ lb/ft diesel power. I've never broken anything in a front axle, even a Dana 44, using it in pretty rough work-truck situations. I have pulled 34,500 GCVW out of a muddy/snowy field and up a very steep gravel driveway with a big block highboy D70 rear and stock component 78-79 HP60 front end, full throttle in 4hi granny gear and tires not spinning much if at all under the weight. Didn't hurt a thing, and if I had a video camera there's a chance they'd have made it into a Ford commercial.

I prefer the kingpin 60 fronts since they seam to hold up very well for me. I wear out D44 balljoints in 20K miles and later D60 balljoints might make 50K for me. Balljoints aren't cheap, they're not the funnest to change either. Kingpin 60's are enjoyable to work on and the steering will stay tight for a very long time if you grease things regularly. I have yet to have a kingpin issue on any 60 I've rebuilt the pins on and maintained.

Good luck with your project, sounds like you have a sound plan.

I am hoping this will be that last bit of major work I will have to do to the front end. I am using all bolt in and factory parts. The older king pin 60's are nice and much easier to maintian. But for this biuld, I doubt a ball joint front end will be an issue.
