I'm late to this post, but I have an 81 VW Pickup here in North Carolina. It's definitely a neat little truck and pretty fun to drive. Mine has a diesel but it is in decent shape and still has a little giddy up when you mash the pedal haha At 6'0" it feels like a go cart when I drive it, especially after getting out of my F250 7.3 IDI. I'm doing some minor part replacements on it, and then she's going up for sale. It's definitely a great truck for packing the camper topper and heading to the coast or the mountains for a small amount of $ in fuel.
