If the friction plate is close to the same size and in good shape you may be able to get away with it. Just remember those gas engines put out even less torque then the idi.

i could be wrong but the clark transmission should be a SAE bell housing. probably a SAE #2, you can double check by measuring the bolt circle diameter or distance between bolts if it is a circular pattern.

if that is the case then you will want to find a IDI to SAE adapter. they are not super common but they are out there. that should get you to be able to bolt them together. i am not sure how the clutch would work. you would probably need to talk to a good medium duty parts guy.

If the 391 / Clark set up is the same as the 70’s trucks I had it will be a cast iron pickup style bell housing, non sae, with the motor mounts on the bellhousing.

I’m going to have to pull engine and I think it would be smart to pull trans as well see what I actually have. I am going to guess it will have the 360/390 bell
