Blower Motor and AC box Removal

I would like to know the Pros and Cons of removing the Blower motor box and AC Box permanently. The purpose would be to clean up the engine Bay and adding More filters to the engine and relocating the Batteries?

Cons: no heat, no A/C....

Why not put filters between the ac box and battery? Just stand the vac can upright

What about your heat and defrosters? You would have to replace it with a non a/c box. A better solution might be to put batteries behind cab on frame rail since it looks like you have a flatbed and you have all that space there.

Can i mount a fan on the heater core for defrost ?

If you were going to do that, might as well put a non-AC box in it's place. If you drive the truck at all, you really need defrost. I almost would consider that a safety issue. You could do a school bus type fan I guess but I am with the other guys, I think I would move something else before I deleted my HVAC. Besides, it does get hot in Balitimore in the summer and cold in the winter.

Actully having a working defroster is a D.O.T. reg.

That's a nice looking engine bay. However, in the context of our old Fords, I think that's impractical.

It could be done with enough time, but is it really worth it? I don't think it would be... mostly because 99% of the time you're NOT looking at the engine bay.

If you are going that direction, you could always do like a vintage air setup and move the stuff inside the cab. It's all got to go somewhere though.

I agree with going with an aftermarket unit if you truly have your heart set on cleaning up the starboard side engine compartment. Besides cleaning off your windshield and warming your toes in winter, the heater also can act as an auxiliary radiator in case of an over heating engine. I've had to do that more than once on a vehicle. And there are some very nice boxes you can mount on the frame underneath as well, kinda like the big trucks.

I have to say though, that's a lot of work to remove all that HVAC equipment and to cover up the holes properly and not look like a kid with a hacksaw went all nuts in there.
