Erratic rpm’s, run away
After removing the IP cover to see what happened, the socket that was rigged on the fss had fallen out and somehow caused the throttle to hold wide open. Still educating myself on how the internals of the pump works, so sorry if that didn't sound smart lol... I went for another try to start...- JFlay

Hello all. I’m newer to the IDI’s and I’ve got a kind of nutcase truck I’m trying to fix up.. when first purchasing the truck, I realized the fss was held open by an 8mm socket and a dime. When key turned off, it had to be suffocated to shut down. After replacing the fss, it seemed like it still...- JFlay

Does that include those little plastic-like seals that go under the fss hardware? If so I'll take a kit. I know the gasket under the cover probably needs replaced as well- JFlay

New purchase, HOT MESS 89 F350 dually
I saw that o-ring seal, and I'd like to replace that. But the fuel is spraying out of where the fss post comes through the cover. Is there a seal I can get to fix this? I'll look into some kind of seal kit for the pump.- JFlay

Okay so I took a jumper wire and tapped to the fss and I could hear very positive actuating happening, so I took that as a good sign. I cleaned up some shady looking wiring and taped off some bare wire and dead ends. Decided before I really do anything I'd give it another try. With some ether...- JFlay

New purchase, HOT MESS 89 F350 dually
So I’ve been pretty busy with life lately, but really wanted to share this part. I ordered a new fuel shutoff solenoid from Amazon, looked it over and decided it was worth a shot. When I go to remove the old one from IP, I find it rigged with a dime and 8mm socket to stay open. No wonder the key...- JFlay

New purchase, HOT MESS 89 F350 dually
To add to this all, I've noticed theres a plug on top of the fuel filter that I believe to be the fuel heater(?) that is removed for some reason. The hole is covered in some kind of rtv-like putty and is slowly seeping fuel when running.. my question is, is it worth trying to un-gum up that...- JFlay

Hey all, I'm new here and recently purchased an 89 F350 supercab dually, with the 7.3 idi and c6 trans. So far the truck drives fantastic, all the exterior lights work, even the horn. But that's about it.. The wiring under the hood and under the dash is a HOT MESS. It has trouble starting...- JFlay
