I would like to know if I will have any problems switching a ZF5 from an 89 4wd into an 86 4 speed 4wd. Both are 7.3, the 86 was originally 6.9. Had no problems installing the 7.3. a year ago.both are supercabs with 8' boxes. I was planning on switching everything from the engine back. The 89...
Well mine is definitely never going to be in a show. It is definitely a working machine. It is my idea of a poor mans skidder. But parts are fairly expensive and lots of them. All I wanted was reliable and to not have to be working on it all the time.I still think you are better off with a 503...
I don't want to discourage you as I wanted one for years and finally got one for "free" about 5 years ago. I now have close to $5000 in it. New tracks
$500 ea, re-built bogies about $500.New crank, pistons and carb etc about $1000. Paint, fiberglas and upholstery work another $500, but that one...
I just bought a rebuilt 7.3 idi still in the crate, that has sat around for 2 years. I want to use the 6.9 flywheel and new clutch, with the 7.3 harmonic balancer. Any problems using my 1986 6.9 inj pump after having it rebuilt? I will be installing a pulse hypermax, should I re-torque the heads...
I am interested in converting from vac assist to Hydro assist on and 86 250 6.9 and read some of the articles. Does Ford not use a little Heater/blower size motor to use as an assit pump motor in case the ps pump fails or motor stalls etc? We have an old F800 at work that has it and my neighbor...
I had the same problem a couple of years ago on an 86 xlt. I bought that door c/w new hinge from ford. Doubt a wreckers one would last very long and it is way too much work to replace. sounds like your dash is pretty well all apart so it shold not be much more trouble installing. I had mine all...
So the safe thing would be to get a 7.3 harmonic balancer and flywheel. The rest is straight forward. What about injection pump? I figured since my 6.9 has over 100,000 miles on it since it was done that it is about due and might as well just get the 7.3 version. Thanks Wilf.
I have a chance to buy a rebuilt 1993 7.3 still in the crate for $3000 cdn about $ 2600 U.S. There is no IP but injectors are there. includes heads and oil pan. My question is.Will my 6.9 manifolds int & Exh fit? Can I use my flywheel or will the balance be different?
I think my starter,WP VP...

If you undo the rad cradle body mounts and the mounts under your floor about where your feet normally rest and then raise the whole body another 6-8" , can't remember exactly how much, all your probems will go away. Then you will have enough room to follow the instructions in the book...
I was interested in these gauges but wasn't sure about the manifold pressure gauge. Is it the same as a Turbo boost gauge ? I saw the ad too late to ask this question and still bid. Thanks Wilf
