I did the same thing a while back. I got mine off by taking the lines off one at a time with a regular open end wrench. Once I got towards the bottom it was a pain and one flat at a time but can be done. Honestly I’ve pulled the pump since then and if I had to do it again I’d just pull the pump...
When you talk about mist coming up from the crankcase I guess you mean through the CDR valve and I just replaced that about a year ago the intake is dry as a bone
No turbo and it seems to run fine after you turn the key it doesn’t start to miss or anything like that when it finally decides to turn off it turns off like you would expect
I was having an issue with it dying once it was hot and you gave it some fuel so I ran atf through the filter three times each time seemed to help but not fix it finally I got some stanadyne injector cleaner and ran it through the filter and the problem went away but then this problem started...
I just run diesel. No propane or anything like that. It doesn’t sound harsh or anything just continues to run. So if fuel is continuing to get in would it be the injectors or the pump?
After I drive my truck and turn the key off it continues to run. Normally just for 10-15 sec then shuts off. But a few times it’s ran way longer after I turn the key off. The other day it kept running after I turned it off for over a min so I popped the hood and disconnected the power to the...
I’ve got an 87 6.9 idi and when I turn the key off it keeps running for a while the other day it ran for longer than it ever has with the key off so I disconnected the power to the pump and it finally shut off after about 15 sec any ideas on what may be cussing this?
I have no fuel getting to my low pressure pump. I poured 4 gals into each tank to be sure there was some in there. The pump is sucking and blowing. Is there a way to test the sending unit and selector valve?
It’s n/a right now and as far as nobody really doing that swap that’s why I like it it’s got the zf5 behind it the only year you could get that combo was 87 so I thought it was pretty cool
I’m originally from the Los Angeles area and my wife’s family and my adoptive family are out in CA is the reason we were thinking about going back I just want to make sure some uninformed gestopo tree huggers aren’t going trying to impound my truck
Ya I’m not rolling coal or have stacks or any of that young guy stuff I get a little blueish gray smoke but I’m pretty sure that’s from a failed cdr so with it being this old I could run a straight pipe after I turbo it and it would still be CA legal?
I called the dmv and they told me the cut off for smog is 1976 and I was trying to explain to the lady it’s a diesel and I don’t think she quite understood what I was saying so I thought I’d try here to see if someone in CA has one and could shed some light on this for me
my wife and I are considering moving to California from Arkansas and I was wondering if I could get some advice on registering and smogging it in ca like does it need a cat and all that I have a 89 f350 with an 87 6.9 swapped in thanks
Ya it came right off with some pb blaster and a shop rag with it being a 6.9 I wanted to make sure it didn't have something to do with the head gasket thanks for all the info
Thanks for all the info but I feel like this adds to my theory that it came from the factory this way like the motor was left over inventory they were trying to get rid of I've work for big production plants and seen stranger
